Lib Dems stood up for the Britain we believe in at the Debate... but where was Corbyn?

Tim Farron was the only real leader on stage at the ITV Leaders' Debate on Thursday night. He received the most mentions on social media, was applauded throughout, especially when standing up for young people, the NHS and for trusting the British people to have the final say on the Brexit deal.

However the question remains: where was Jeremy Corbyn?

This is just the latest example of Corbyn not turning up when it counts. He is supposed to be Leader of the Opposition but he hasn't opposed anything. When he voted with Ukip and the Conservatives on their extreme version of Brexit, he lost the right to call himself a progressive politician. Now on Brexit, Labour claim they will redraw the Tory plans they have been complicit in passing, but refuse to tell us what those plans will be.

Robert Swift, Liberal Democrat candidate for Gedling said: "Labour has been trying hard to shift the spotlight away from Corbyn and Brexit. His decision not to attend the debate and defend his willing support for Theresa May's plans must have been a relief to their supporters."

At the debate, Tim Farron showed he is the voice for those who want a future brighter than Theresa May and Nigel Farage's cold, mean-spirited vision for Britain. Tim set out our bold manifesto pledges: giving the people a say on Brexit, caring for more Syrian refugees and a 1p income tax rise to save our NHS. But Labour refuses to debate their uncosted policies because they know they don't stand up to scrutiny.

Tim stood up for Open, Tolerant and United Britain that we love. But by failing to turn up, Jeremy Corbyn showed once again that he will toe Theresa's line when it really counts.
